Makers Market
Maker’s Market will be at the heart of Bordon town centre providing start up business, community, heritage and market spaces.
The building has been designed with a ‘long life / loose fit’ approach such that a range of activities can be accommodated, allowing the building to react easily and quickly to the future needs to the Town Centre. This is expressed physically by the buildings simple, linear form and its regular, almost modular facade treatment. The simple pair of roofs that contain its functions are emblematic of the existing shed structures of the Technical Training Area, thereby creating a permanent visual link to the site’s heritage.

The building responds positively to the site’s complex topography, occupying the western length of the Town Park, while also defining the southern edge of the Town Square. These links result in a permeable structure which is as much a part of the public realm as these nodal external spaces are. Expressed as ying-yang composition, the building aims to become a place of discovery and activity in the Town.
