Downsend School
ArchitecturePLB has recently completed a new Creative Arts Centre at Downsend School in Leatherhead. We were commissioned by Downsend School to provide an in-depth feasibility over their sites with the outcome being multiple phases of remodelling work culminating in the recently completed new build Creative Arts centre.
The Creative Arts Centre will provide the school with a flexible performance space for theatre production with the ability to also be laid out as a 198 seat theatre or used for exams and exhibitions with the seating retracted. Associated specialist classrooms for music, music practice, recording studios and drama are also provided.
The building also provided a new front-of-house for the school in a prominent position on the site, housing reception, head teacher and senior leadership team.
