With over 30 years’ experience as a Chartered Architect, Nick brings expertise in a wide range of building types, scales and procurement routes. Since joining ArchitecturePLB in 1987 he has focused on the education sector and now leads the practice’s work on schools. He is passionate about the importance of the built environment on learning and pastoral outcomes and is able to engage, understand and translate an educational vision into creative, appropriate, affordable and effective design solutions.
Nick has been personally involved in well over 50 new and refurbishment school projects. These include early years, primary, secondary and all-through facilities, as well as Special Educational Needs schools and boarding accommodation. As a specialist in the sector, Nick has acted as an RIBA-accredited ‘Client Adviser’ for schools. He speaks regularly at education design conferences and contributes in the press, including co-authoring and editing the book ‘Future Schools: Innovative Design for Existing and New Buildings’. Nick is also responsible for ArchitecturePLB’s Quality and Environmental Management systems.
Outside his professional activities Nick likes to spend weekends at his woodland in Dorset, where he enjoys the therapeutic benefits of nature and a chainsaw.
