Beddington Lane and Woodcote Road
Ultra low energy, affordable housing units across two sites in the London Borough of Sutton. Beddington Lane and Woodcote Road are part of a programme of social housing being developed by the borough with a focus on zero and low carbon in line with Sutton’s 2020 Climate Emergency Response Plan.
The project provides a total of twenty residential units designed to sit within two contrasting urban environments. Beddington Lane comprises 5 terraced houses and 4 apartments on a brownfield site within the Beddington Village Conservation Area. The new houses are designed to sit comfortably at the edge of the conservation area in an area dominated by Victorian terraced dwellings.

At Woodcote Road 11 affordable housing units are provided in a 4 storey apartment building. Woodcote Road, historically lined with large Victorian villas, has gradually been redeveloped with larger scale residential buildings. The new apartment building maximizes the capacity of the site whilst following the massing and building lines of adjacent modern developments.
The buildings are designed to achieve Passivhaus Certification. ArchitecturePLB are performing the role of Architect and Passivhaus Designer.
