Building a Better Future for Healthcare: Silver Spade Ceremony for St. Clements Surgery

Date posted: March 22, 2023

ArchitecturePLB are celebrating another fantastic milestone for our healthcare team, with a Silver Spade Ceremony for St Clements Surgery.

Incredibly, our team has been involved with the project for over 17 years, working with the Practice, Winchester City Council and other key stakeholders, to develop the design and gain planning consent. ArchitecturePLB have latterly assisted the specialist developer Assura, alongside their delivery team, to help bring the scheme to fruition. The start on site marks a huge moment in the life of the project, and is a testament to the tenacity and commitment of all involved.

The site for the new surgery, a former car park in central Winchester, is close to the practice’s current premises, enabling them to continue to provide their essential services to over 17,000 patients, whilst also benefiting the wider community who will be able to access a range of Health & Wellbeing services, including a new Primary Care Network Health Hub. The site sits within the Winchester Conservation Area and within a zone of significant
archaeological interest. The design responds to its context with sensitivity, whilst projecting a strong, contemporary character, satisfying the numerous technical and regulatory challenges of a sophisticated, modern healthcare facility.
