Cavendish Level 3 - Life Sciences Lab
Conversion of an existing open plan office space into a new 90 seat open plan Life Sciences Teaching Laboratory. Lab stations are principally arranged in 12 seat island benches with sinks, gas and power. Each bench is provided with a display screen at the perimeter for ease of viewing. The layout includes two ducted fume cupboards and equipment and storage are located around the perimeter. A dedicated prep room has not been provided as use will be made of an existing prep room within the building, but an open prep area within the lab is included. The new lab provides a smart, professional looking lab space with vibrant graphics that help to identify it’s core subject.

Copland Level 3 - Life Sciences Office
Refurbishment of an existing floor of the Copland Building to provide an open plan office space for Life Sciences. The newly configured space incorporates a mix of dedicated and hot desk spaces, creating flexibility in how the space is used. Existing enclosed offices at each end of the space are retained for private meetings and a new space for interaction between students and staff has been created comprising three small meeting rooms. Informal social and relaxation spaces within the open plan office help to create a more pleasant and varied working environment whilst the new acoustic pods provide for focussed activities such as attending online meetings and recording lectures. The modular storage solution provides for a mix of open shelving, lockable units and space for plants or other objects to help personalise the space in a managed way.
Copland Level 5 - Computer Science & Engineering
Reconfiguration and refurbishment of an existing floor of the Copland Building to accommodate new Creative and Interactive Computing Labs for Computer Science and Engineering. The new facilities comprise a rich mix of teaching, research and staff spaces including collaboration spaces within the main circulation space. The new layout helps create an interactive and vibrant learning atmosphere, animated with new graphics, and will help facilitate collaboration with other institutions. The intention is that students will be encouraged to stay within the department for longer, promoting a collaborative learning environment.
