Eastleigh College F Block
ArchitecturePLB were appointed to design two new buildings for Eastleigh College, one on the main campus and a technology building on a nearby satellite campus. Part disposal of the smaller satellite campus was to fund the new buildings. By analysing the brief requirements for both buildings ArchitecturePLB were able to offer an alternative solution allowing full disposal of the satellite campus, providing all requirements for the two new buildings on the college’s main campus.

A bold but simple new landmark building, the Creative Skills Centre has a strong presence to the street, giving the college a bold new public identity. The building is home to the Finance and Business Academy; Art, Design and Media Department; and a Hair and Beauty department, which includes a street-facing commercial salon on the ground floor to attract business and engage with the community.
Internally an atrium brings daylight into the heart of the building, providing an arrivals space for the more public facing teaching departments and a circulation space for the more student focused teaching areas higher up the building. The main south facing elevation is clad with vertical brise-soleil to mitigate solar gains, with an array of fins giving the college a distinct and civic presence.
