Goodbye to Mike Skilton

Date posted: June 4, 2020

Next week we will be saying Goodbye to Director Mike Skilton, who decided at the start of 2020 that, after 25 years at the practice, he wanted to enjoy a well-earned break and explore other opportunities within the construction industry.

During his time at ArchitecturePLB Mike has been responsible for numerous award-winning school projects from Haute Vallee School in Jersey, completed in 1998, to four new academies for West Sussex delivered as part of the ‘Building Schools for the future program in 2010.

In recent years Mike has focused on the practice’s large-scale residential projects. In 2017 he was the Director responsible for Stapleton House a 10 storey, £40m student accommodation project in Islington. The project won  ‘Private Halls of Residence of the Year at the Student Accommodation Awards in 2017. Most recently Mike and his team achieved planning permission for Unite Student’s latest flagship mixed use scheme in Aldgate which will house 900 students.

As we announced earlier in the year, Paul Conway has been promoted to Director level and he has been working with Mike and the rest of the team to ensure a smooth transition.

We wish Mike all the best and good luck for the future!
