Spring Practice Day 2019

Date posted: April 1, 2019

Once a quarter ArchitecturePLB’s two studios come together for some team building and CPD. This year’s Spring Practice Day was hosted by our Winchester Studio last Thursday.

The day is an opportunity for architects to share their projects with the rest of the team. We had 17 fast paced and engaging presentations which highlighted the range of exciting projects we are working on at the moment, one even included a virtual reality walkthrough which we accessed on our phones via a QR code. Projects presented include a new sports complex and performing arts centre for repeat client Merchant Taylors’ School, an affordable housing development in tower hamlets, and an NHS integrated care centre in Worthing.

It was a lovely spring day, so we enjoyed a delicious lunch out on the terrace before the afternoon’s presentations.

We always aim to present our schemes in simple and engaging ways to our clients and other stakeholders, so at the end of the day we took the opportunity to think about ‘parti’ diagrams, these are diagrams designed to represent the design concept for a building. After reviewing some example diagrams that we thought worked well we were given a 5-minute task to distil our projects into a simple diagram to present back to the studio.
