Richard Plincke (1928-2018)

We are saddened to learn that Richard Plincke, one of the founding partners of ArchitecturePLB, passed away on Saturday 8 September. From its establishment as Plincke, Leaman and Browning Architects in 1971, Richard helped to grow the practice until his retirement from architecture in the mid ‘90s, when he concentrated on a second career as a professional artist.

Richard was elected to the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in 1984. He was previously runner-up for the Bronze Medal for two consecutive years and short listed for the Hunting Prize for the Watercolour of the year. He exhibited with the RI where he was awarded the Debra Manifold Memorial Prize for the most innovative painting at the RI annual exhibition. Richard had also exhibited at the RA and the Royal Society of Marine Artists as well as in numerous galleries around the globe.

Over the last quarter of a century, Richard remained a strong advocate of ArchitecturePLB, visiting regularly and always keen to hear of the practice’s progress. We remain indebted to his memory and he will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.
