Planning granted for Odiham rural exception site

Date posted: September 22, 2020

ArchitecturePLB have recently achieved planning consent for 12 homes on a rural exception site near in Odiham in Hampshire. The project, for Hastoe Housing Association will provide much needed affordable housing for the local community. The homes will be designed to the Hastoe Environmental Standard to create energy efficient homes which will help reduce fuel poverty.

The project team had to overcome substantial tree and ecological constraints as well as significant surface water flood risk issues. The site also sits alongside a dual carriageway and needed careful planning to ensure that windows face away from the noise and that homes have quiet external spaces. The perimeter tree belt has been retained as a home for wildlife and to help protect from road noise.

Crisp detailing will give the development a contemporary appearance, with materials selected to reflect the surrounding rural Hampshire context.
