Planning permission achieved for Residential Scheme in Southampton

ArchitecturePLB have achieved planning permission for a high-density residential scheme in Southampton’s City Centre which will contribute to the City Centre Action Plan. The 13 storey scheme will provide 39, 1 and 2 bedroom apartments as well as 160sqm of office space on the Ground Floor.

The building sits on a key site between the retail centre of Southampton and the city’s Grade 2 listed parks and ArchitecturePLB worked with Southampton City Council and Historic England to ensure that the project would enhance its setting. The constrained site with a small footprint required careful planning, smaller dwellings were chosen to maximise the efficiency around the core and the vertical emphasis was enhanced through elevational design to create a tall, slender, elegant building using materials that relate to the local context and nearby listed buildings.
