Autumn Practice Day 2019

Date posted: November 5, 2019

Once a quarter ArchitecturePLB’s two studios come together for some team building and CPD. This year the focus was on tackling the climate emergency. For our afternoon session, we invited Chris Swinburn, Building Services Engineer from QODA to talk to us about what we can do as Architects to make our buildings more sustainable and energy-efficient. After a sobering and informative talk, he set us an ‘airtightness challenge’ using cardboard boxes and a variety of tape. The day generated a lot of enthusiasm and a shared commitment to improving our energy targets.

Earlier in the year ArchitecturePLB signed up to the commitments in ‘UK Architects Declare Climate and Biodiversity Emergency’. Since then we become a member of the Passivhaus Trust and have held our own multi-disciplinary ‘Climate Strike’ Workshop in our Winchester Studio.
