Autumn Practice Day

Date posted: October 19, 2018

Once a quarter ArchitecturePLB’s two studios come together for some team building and CPD. This year’s Autumn Practice Day was hosted by our London Studio in Southwark.

The day is an opportunity for architects to share their projects with the rest of the team. 14 projects were presented, ranging from feasibility and masterplanning right through to post occupancy evaluation. Our team have been working on an exciting mix of projects including a new STEAM building for Lambeth College and a Sports & Arts building for repeat client Merchant Taylors’ School. Residential projects include several student accommodation schemes across the south of England, a 100 unit retirement community, and a specialist housing development in north London for people with special needs.

We had 9 entries for our ‘bake off’ which provided plenty of cake and biscuits to be eaten throughout the day. Prizes were awarded for Taste, Technicality and Appearance.

We always end our practice days with a fun activity, this time we were all given the task of creating a self-portrait in an artistic style picked out of a hat. People were encouraged to bring their own materials which resulted in some interesting 3D creations made from mashed potato, pineapple and pumpkin!
